MARIA

Survival
What a
strange thing
Man
thought
I don't
know where I'm from
Why I am
Nothing I
asked that I remember
And to
anyone
I didn't
even know life existed
On this
earth
But here
I am
it's done
now
So I find myself with this baggage
On the
shoulders
And I
don’t know what to do
To move
on
Right or
left
Nobody to
explain it
I look
around and don't understand
The
language that others like me
the same
eyes on the forehead
the same
mouth talk
And if sometimes
I seem to grasp
Immediately
I notice what they say
Never
comes from the heart
But from
the mind
So I find
myself in confusion
In a
world where there are seasons
Where the
day alternates with the night
And
something tells me that in the morning
I have to
get up quickly
Go to
such a place
Where I
will be asked to do a job
And stay
there until evening
The time
of a yawn
And everything starts again
Tired,
worn out
In a
babel where I hear voices
But never
anyone who stops
To listen
to what I say
and I
strive and then again
But for
what
Many say
for survival
And
meanwhile
The last
day of my journey arrives

Who Am I
I walked
under the sun
and in
the rain
climbed
mountains
sailed
seas
crossed
green meadows
left my footsteps
on snowy
roads
in search
of truths unknown
looking
my eyes for
glimmers
of light
Many
still the paths
winding
before me
but firm
the will
to keep
going on
sure my
step
dawn
after dawn
till the
sky turns on
its
bright lamps
and silent
will be all
the world
around

Fragments
Like a
thief
I steal
from time
Fragments
of life
To keep
them carefully
In a
crystal casket
So when
fate is
To me
adverse
The
memory
Of those
fleeting moments
That drew
once
Smiles on
my face
Brightened
my soul
Like a
ray of white moon
A dark
night
Will make
me feel alive
Again
In a
world of deaths

exceptional works by modern writers, blending them together seems a challenge
for many, where Maria is found to be successful applying them into her poems.
Author of anthologies in Italian, English or both languages She is recipient of
numerous national and international awards and recognition.
