Touch A Life
Hold a
hand to show the way
Help a
needy or feed a stray
Think how
many were happy
Amongst
all you met today.
Did you
selflessly give rather than take?
Did you
make someone’s day?
Or caused
a heartbreak?
As you
stand in front of the mirror tonight-
Can you
contentedly say-
That you
rescued a soul from misery’s sway?
Did you
ever provide a wholesome meal?
To at
least one out of million hungry stomachs.
Did you
reach out before their hopes plummet?
Is there
a single heart blessing you or your deeds?
Did your
empathy help a wounded soul heal?
Did you
leave behind a trail of happiness?
Did you
hold an aged immobile hand with tenderness?
Act now,
share a smile, share a meal, hush those agonizing wails
Let not
the human in you fail
Your
every selfless act of reaching out to strangers
Will
quell a bit of this world’s misery
Touch a
life, rescue anguished souls from drudgery
Help
weary feet tread on roads leading to recovery
When you
have taken a step towards making a difference
Your
selfless acts would always be remembered with reverence
On the
day of final judgement,
God would
bless you for your perseverance

I Will Arise
You may
treat me like dust
You may
distort my truth
You may
trample all over me
You may
rape my soul
You may
mutilate my inner organs
You may
want to break me into pieces
You may
chop my broken body to leave no traces
You may
treat my vagina as a source of lust
You may
blame me for inciting your thirst
You may
murder me in my mother’s womb
You can
my trusting heart entomb
You may
treat me like a mercenary
Not a
human, just your subsidiary
You may
enslave me to not let your plans go awry
Listen,
you nincompoop
you will
not hear me say sorry
No matter
how much you try
I will
not cower
I will
not lay my bleeding body at your manly bower
You may
rewrite my history
You may
distort my naked truth
With your
twisted lies, you brute
You
cannot break me, you cannot break my spirit
No matter
how much you test my endurance limit
I will
evolve, I will arise
As sure
as the tides
I will
glitter, I will shine
Like the
sun, moon, and the wind in their sprightly dance
My hopes,
my breath you won’t be able to stop
My
shoulders will not droop nor my gaze drop
Slice me
with your words, malign my purity
Like a
gusty wind I will pay no heed
To your
definition of my virginity
My
virginity cannot be your cloak
To hide
your incompetence, your failures
As a man,
as a saviour
My soul
does not lie between my thighs
But I
revel in my femininity
You can
maraud my trust with your hate
But your
insensitivity does not bother me of late
I will
escape from the cycle of deprivation
I will no
more be your definition-
of abject
abomination
I will
rewrite my history
Like the
waves surging at the tides
I will
rise, rise to erase your lies
I will
wipe out the endless saga of frights and tears
Leaving
behind nights of terror and fear
I will
walk into the sunrise
To
reclaim the rights of my ancestors and peers
I will
break all bondage
I will my
broken pride salvage
As sure
as the day and the night
As
sprightly as the winds dancing in a trance
I will
arise, I will breathe
I will
carve a niche for my creed.

The Final Wish
(Roseate Sonnet)
The rose
hued sky is spilling a bouquet of rose petal lights –
The sea
is suffused with crystals glimmering bright
The dying
sun bleeds at the ebbing of this beautiful day
When our
love in your heart is losing its sway
How my
heart is praying for this final moment to linger
This
shimmering moment before our paths are led asunder
Let the
jaunty waves answer those difficult questions
And wash
away your latest indiscretion
Watch the
rosy- hued sky thaw the bitterness in our hearts
Let us
rebuild our love from the start
Rise my love,
tonight let the real become unreal
Oh!
Tonight, push back those painful choices
Soak this
moment surreal; walking together on the salt-sparkling shore
End of
tonight will hopefully bless us moments of love galore.
